For Immediate Release:
California Billion Trees Initiative
California Billion Trees Initiative (CBTI)
Santa Barbara, California - May 2019
Today marks the launch of the California Billion Trees Initiative.
The time has finally arrived to begin the mass planting of trees to mitigate climate change, and to increase biospheric resiliency in the face of unprecedented global catastrophe.
Tree initiatives often focus solely on the number of trees planted, not the number of trees established.
Tree planting is relatively easy, but establishing those trees so they successfully grow on their own, without human intervention, is the true challenge.
The world needs established trees, so established trees will be the focus of the CBTI, with the goal of 1 billion new trees established in California by 2030.
Meeting this goal will require not only substantial effort to plant and establish trees, but will also demand careful tracking and record-keeping to ensure success.
These newly established trees will persist for decades, buffering the human experience along the unforeseen road ahead.
CBTI isn't primarily about feeling good.
CBTI is about doing good.
What are you willing to do to win the most important battle of our time?
