Quercus x comptoniae | Dallas, Texas

Here we see another highly rare Compton's Oak (Quercus x comptoniae), growing in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. In this individual hybrid form, the Southern Live Oak (Q. virginiana) parentage is vastly more evident. This form is nicely intermediate between the two parents, and provides a dense, semi-evergreen foliar canopy.
