Quercus x hispanica | Palo Alto

Growing in the obscure Ramos Park in Palo Alto is an oak of true rarity. The bark and trunk can be seen here, with clear hints of Cork Oak (Quercus suber), but clearly is not true Cork Oak. Eventually, this tree was recognized as Laucombe's Oak (Quercus x hispanica), a rare Cork Oak hybrid found rarely in the wild, and in some European arboreta and gardens.
