Quercus laceyi | Central Valley
In searching for drought-adapted, small to medium size, and otherwise attractive trees for urban California, attention turns to the Hill Country of Texas. In the Hill Country grows the Lacey Oak (Quercus laceyi), a lovely smallish oak, with bluish foliage and an upright growth habit. Among tree experts in Texas, Lacey Oak is considered a valuable and vastly under-utilized species. Pictured here is a nursery Lacey Oak growing in California’s Central Valley.
