Quercus oblongifolia | Los Angeles County

Growing at the California State University at Fullerton Arboretum are a trio of trees marked Quercus oblongifolia, the Mexican Blue Oak. In this location, they are receiving some supplemental irrigation, and thriving in those conditions. Mexican Blue Oak grows in a monsoonal dominated climate zone, so this arid zone oak is adapted to summer moisture, as opposed to most of the native oaks of California.
