Quercus buckleyi | Fort Collins

For several decades, the thoughtful arborist for the city of Fort Collins, Colorado, brought new oaks to his city. One of the best of these is Q. buckleyi, often known as the Texas Red Oak. Texas Red Oak grows in the Texas Hill Country, a place that gets very hot and humid in the summer, and can get pretty chilly in the winter. The Hill Country is near Austin, and can also experience substantial drought. This wet to dry tolerance gives the Texas Red Oak a usefully wide-ranging demeanor.
