Quercus canbyi | Central Valley

Closely related to Q. canbyi is Q. sartorii, another oak from northern Mexico. Cultural differences between the species have yet to be defined in California, but the differences in leaf shape are obvious from the photo. Leaves of Q. sartorii have extended lobes, ending in bristle tips. The specimen shown here is growing in a Central Valley nursery, where the trees performed well.
