Quercus gravesii | Alpine, Texas

The town square in Alpine, Texas, deep in the heart of West Texas, features a lovely Quercus gravesii, similar to the trees that grace the mountains and some of the countryside in the vast expansive stretches around Alpine. There are some indications that this tree is not grown from local acorns, but it in fact a tree originally grown by Michael Melendrez in New Mexico. Regardless, it appears true Q. gravesii.
